Family and Peer Support Partnerships
Coping with a severe mental illness is helped significantly when caring family and friends are educated about the illness and working together to provide support to their family member and to each other. We encourage our clients and their families to get involved with vital support organizations in our community.
Support Organizations
NAMI:
The National Alliance for Mental Illness is a nationwide organization dedicated to education, advocacy, and fighting stigma. The local chapters of NAMI offer an array of peer education and training program for individuals, family members, health care providers and the general public. These programs draw on the lived experience of individuals who have learned to live well with mental illness and have been extensively trained to help others, as well as the expertise of mental health professionals and educators.
More information on their local activities and offerings can be found at www.nami-cc.org or by calling 513.732.5419.
Phoenix Place:
Phoenix Place is a peer support center for those who are recovering from a mental illness. The Phoenix Place, adjacent to LifePoint Solution's Amelia Center, is open Monday thru Friday 9 am to 3 pm. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the Center offers a diverse schedule of classes about recovery, healthy living, computer skills, job readiness, and fun topics such as scrapbooking and creative writing. The classes are taught by staff or volunteers.
